* The Department consists of air-conditioned dissection hall that is well lighted, equipped with multimedia, provided with models, charts, Radiogram with X-Ray view box and skeleton. It is also provided with a mortuary cooler for storage and cooling of cadavers. Human cadavers are available for dissection purpose.

Museum is equipped with models and charts of gross Anatomy, Embryology and Neuroanatomy. It also has articulated and dis-articulated skeletons and carefully selected X-ray, CT and MRI films for student learning activities.

Research laboratory is also available in the Department comprising rotary microtome, sledge microtome, incubator, hot plate, water bath, slide drying plate and dissecting microscope.

* Physiology is one of the branches of medicine that deals with study of functions of human body and the regulation of different organ system. Physiology describes nature of life. It provides the framework of studying and exploring the bases of life. The goal of teaching Medical Physiology to undergraduate students is to provide a comprehensive knowledge of the integrated functions of the organ systems, which in turn helps assimilating and understanding the basis of health and disease. Human physiology is closely related to Anatomy & Biochemistry in that Anatomy is the study of form, and Physiology is the study of body function, whereas Biochemistry is the study of body functions at molecular level. The study of Physiology integrates knowledge across many levels, including biochemistry, cell physiology, organ systems and body as a whole. As a discipline, it connects science, medicine & health and creates a framework for understanding how human body adapts to stresses, physical activity and disease.
Department of Physiology is having well equipped Hematology, Clinical Physiology laboratories. One demonstration room is available with audio visual aids for practical demonstrations and tutorials of the students. The Department of Physiology also has an excellent library with latest editions of textbooks as well as reference books.
* Biochemistry commonly refers to as chemical language of life, behaves as an integral part of clinical component in the disciplines of medicine, health, bio-engineering and technology. It is the most rapidly advancing science in medicine having wider impact on human health and disease. The Department provides teaching and research facilities in the areas of Clinical Biochemistry, Cancer Biology, Standardization of Pharmaceuticals, Nutritional Biochemistry, De-addiction, Biochemical and Environmental Toxicology and Microbial Pathogenesis. The Department has a well-equipped cell-culture facility. The sophisticated equipment’s in the department are HPLC, Spectrophotometer, Liquid Scintillation Counter, Refrigerated High speed Centrifuges and other instruments essential for biochemical investigations. The Department offers consultancy for evaluation of drug efficacy and safety, Biochemical investigations for diagnosis, Anticancer studies, Biochemical studies, Cardiotonic drugs, Respiratory and Gastro-intestinal infections, Hepatoprotective activity studies and efficacy of Ayurvedic drugs.

* Pharmacology is a branch of medicine and is concerned with science of drugs including their origin, composition, pharmacokinetics, therapeutic use, and toxicology, the properties and reactions of drugs especially with relation to their therapeutic value. The Department provides the students with the knowledge of different types of drugs and their effects and to work actively to contribute towards the establishment of the national health goals. The Department trains the students to develop a modern outlook so that they can handle any unforeseen situation or impending eventualities. The services are divided into sections, with a faculty member overseeing and authorizing the work in each section. It has the facilities for isolation and identification of various pathogenic microbes and determining their antimicrobial susceptibility.

* The Department of Forensic Medicine is a science which teaches the application of every branch of medical knowledge to the purpose of the law. The Department is dedicated to the study and consecutive application of different areas of the medical sciences. These are applied to human body in order to assist the law for investigating a crime including murder, sexual assault, poisoning or natural death. It deals with the concept of imparting knowledge of Medico-Legal responsibilities to the treating physician and various problems related to the practice of legal medicine. It is also engaged in performing medico-legal duties like postmortem examinations and medico-legal examinations.

* The Department has applied to the Government of Jharkhand for permission to perform postmortem examination. It provides a service to society by performing medico-legal autopsy services, in a well-equipped and maintained separate mortuary block, complete with modern equipment and other facilities. The autopsy can be witnessed by the students from a gallery in the autopsy room. The mortuary has state of the art facility to conduct two autopsies simultaneously. Mortuary has facility to preserve two bodies in cold storage in medico-legal cases. The Department is also equipped with facilities and manpower to conduct post mortems on the spot, if required.
* The Department of Community Medicine deals with the study of health and disease in the population or a defined community or group in order to identify their health problems and needs, and to plan, implement and evaluate health programs and measures to effectively meet these needs. The department is committed towards improving quality of Teaching and Training in the Theory and Practice of Community Medicine through a Transparent and Multi-Disciplinary approach and by networking other Service Delivery Institutions of Primary Health Care and Voluntary Organizations. It reaches out to people to provide services for prevention of disease (such as immunization, antenatal care, health screening etc.), promotion of health (such as safe water supply and sanitation, vector control measure, tobacco control policy, etc.) and provision of primary medical care (treatment of common ailments such as diarrhea, pneumonia, TB, leprosy, malaria, hypertension, etc.), whereas other branches of medicine largely provide diagnostic and treatment service to patients who come to seek treatment.
